training facility
Program Description
The UA Local 412 vocational training facility has been realized through the adaptive reuse of an existing warehouse building, an approach that minimized environmental impact and supported sustainable development goals by repurposing existing infrastructure.
The design preserves key spatial and aesthetic qualities of the original industrial structure and surrounding site, while supporting a practical and effective training environment.

Category: State-of-the-Art Training Facility
The UA Local Union 412 Training Facility features
51 dedicated welding booths, each outfitted with advanced, individually ducted fume extraction systems to maintain optimal air quality and ensure safety. The layout is carefully organized to prioritize workflow efficiency, clear visibility, and accessibility, allowing instructors and students to engage in hands-on training within a highly controlled and supportive environment.

The facility is spatially organized into two mechanical zones: one for high-ventilation spaces, such as the welding workshop, and another for regularly occupied areas like offices and classrooms, enabling targeted, energy-efficient system performance.
A FACILITY THAT SERVES AS A VITAL RESOURCE FOR THE ALBUQUERQUE COMMUNITY, CREATING PATHWAYS INTO THE VOCATIONAL TRADES THROUGH A THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED,
STATE-OF-THE-ART LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.
