PRINCIPAL (RETIRED), DEKKER/PERICH/SABATINI LTD.

"I am very happy to recommend Sajini Badrinarayan as a project architect, designer, manager and thinker.

I am a former Principal at Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (now retired), with more than two decades of experience with the firm and more than 35 years of overall experience.  I had the opportunity to work with Sajini for several years.  While with D/P/S, she was a Project Architect and Associate in our educational facilities Practice Area.  Sajini really stood out as one of the most talented people we had in the firm.

In our time together, Sajini set herself apart quickly as someone who had a real talent for design, someone who is able to take a complex set of requirements and develop a simple, elegant way of meeting them.  Her eye for beauty and simplicity is keen, and she is able to take basic design ideas from others and develop them into a unified whole.  What also really impressed me was the deep understanding she has of the tools needed to express these ideas.  She is not only a master at visualization software, but utilizes Revit as if it’s a design tool.  She is able to thoughtfully illustrate not only the parameters of a design, but the underlying thoughts and “whys” - all while developing a complete, buildable set of documents.

In particular, Sajini and I worked together on a new High School for the North Conejos School District in south, central Colorado.  This was a very difficult project for many reasons, including a very tight site, a Construction Manager at Risk that was brought into the project late in the design, and a large team from the Client Representative and the client themselves.  It was truly a “cat-herding” exercise.  Oh - and let’s not forget the budget difficulties due to unforeseen site and utility needs.

During the entire design and construction of this school, Sajini was able to keep the biggest design ideas intact - despite the budget woes - all while also staying ahead of the Client Representative and Construction Manager.  Many were the OAC meetings where tough questions about project details were raised, and the entire team would show surprise as Sajini revealed that she had already studied the issue and had an insightful response ready.  Her foresight during a very busy and difficult process always made the day.  To everyone’s delight, she also always handled herself in a sunny, professional way.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions or if you’d like more information about my time working with Sajini.  I would highly recommend her for any firm looking to

expand their design and technical talent."
